Closest landmark: The Mamertine Prison sits at the foot of the Capitoline Hill beside the Roman Forum, about 15 minutes on foot from the Colosseum, while Castel Sant'Angelo rises on the Tiber, about a ten minute walk from St. Peter's Basilica.
The Colosseum and Castel Sant'Angelo are in different parts of central Rome and are not within comfortable walking distance of each other. The Colosseum has its own stop on metro Line B, while Castel Sant'Angelo is closest to the Line A stops of Lepanto and Ottaviano, so getting between them takes a change of metro line or a taxi ride.
